Janice Helena da Silva is a Humanist, Diplomatist and SDG Global Goodwill Ambassador who has 20 years of professional experience in development and International management, mainly with the United Nations System. With an educational background in Diplomatic Studies; International Cooperation and Social Sciences, her professional experience includes work with international organizations, public and private entities. She is a motivated and versatile professional, a good team player, who easily assumes leadership responsibilities. Over her career she has maintained her passion for contact with the communities at field level and to travel discovering new cultures, being a motivational speaker and coach and promoting peace and human development among the people of the world.
She is currently the SDG Global Goodwill Ambassador designated for the Lusophone Community and Economic Development localizing SDG for sustainable communities and Cities and advocating for the Tourism for the SDGs to the Five Points Youth Foundation, Los Angeles, California, USA, member of the United Nations Global Compact. She served as the Country Coordinator for Cabo Verde at UN-Habitat from November 2009 to July 2019 and negotiated the Establishment of UN-Habitat in Guinee Bissau and São Tomé e Príncipe and also was pioneer in appointing 80 local urban ambassadors to UN-Habitat, the first ambassadors to the organization and also negotiated the financial contribution framework of the Government of Cabo Verde to UN-Habitat . Prior to this position, she served as the Regional Project Officer on Drug Demand Reduction at UN-ODC, covering, Cabo Verde, Togo, Ivory Coast and Benin (2006 – 2009); UNV/UNDP External Consultant on Environment youth Project (2005); Trainer of Trainers on Social Development at Bornefonden, Denmark NGO (2005); Program Advisor in Communication for Human Rights and Education at GIZ Cabo Verde, (2002-2005); Intern of UNODC Brazil, UNDP Brazil, UNFPA and UN-AIDS Brazil (2000-2002) and AIESEC Corporative Relations Brazil (1999).
